New Starter Spotlight!

We have a new starter here at GES; he goes by the name of Gary and he is one of our new administrators based down in our Head Office in Haddenham, Bucks. He hasn't been here long but is already working super hard to ensure that GES runs smoothly and customers are kept satisfied. Here is Gary's own introduction and backstory....

'Well I’m from Gravesend, Kent originally. I worked as a Trainee Tax assistant for a year, but the work and people were neither challenging nor interesting so I left. I had a mind to join the police force at the time so I started applying but after a slow intake I had to rethink my future a bit.
And I figured to get bit of a springboard I’d apply for university, and that’s what brought me to Buckinghamshire.

I started a Criminology course at Bucks New University and was working through a temp agency part time to help support myself, and through that I've done  everything from warehouse work to software development and quality assurance. During my 3rd year (oddly enough during exam times, but I've never been one for revision :P) I was given a contract for GES. I found the work to be a good challenge and the people really great and luckily Mags seems to like my work and with my course complete she offered me a place here. J

When I’m not at GES I enjoy reading, watching films, playing pool and the occasional hand or two of poker.'
Gary-Super Awesome Administrator

Welcome to the team Gary, its a pleasure to have you with us! :)

Tank Refurb a Success!

From time to time, here at GES Water, we find fantastic suppliers who will go above and beyond to meet our needs. The result is a great partnership where both parties get something out of it.

So, in our spotlight is Precolor.

We found them by chance as one of our engineers mentioned them when we were struggling to find a Northern Supplier of Cold Water Storage Tanks.

We used Precolor for installing new tank lids in a hotel in the Derbyshire Peak District. However, trouble struck when we realised the tank lids we had ordered from Precolor would be too big to fit through a door onsite that had been reduced in size.

We had to call up Precolor at very short notice as the tank lids were going to be too big to get in.  Undeterred, Precolor re-manufactured the lids in 3 pieces for us so our engineers could fit them properly.

The results of the work is below:

Precolor are always attentive with good customer service. We will continue to use them as a Northern Supplier for the foreseeable future.
Thanks guys, you really do a fab job!

Check out their website: http://www.precolortankdivision.co.uk/ for more information.

GES Run Thame 10k for MacIntyre Charity

As you may have seen on our social media feeds over the past few months, we have been massively promoting support of GES staff for the Thame 10k run in aid of the MacIntyre charity.
Well, they came, they ran, they got sweaty, but they did it and ran with all their hearts.

Massive thanks and a job well done go out to GES staff members:
Mags Gibson
Debbie Jones
Mark David
Sam Alexander
Renato Passaro
and a special thanks to Mike Papworth; the owner of IT support company EAC Network Solutions, who ran with GES Water for the great cause.

Collectively, the guys and girls raised over £600 for MacIntyre, who provide support to children, young people and adults with a learning disability, including some of the most disabled people in society. MacIntyre's expert support and care can mean the difference between existing day-to-day and leading a fulfilling life.
Here are a few snaps from the day out.

Everyone at GES Water wish to say a massive thank you for the organisers of the event and those who donated in aid of MacIntyre.
Also well done to those fit and brave enough to run the Thame 10k! A Special Congratulations goes to Ren who finished first with a fab time of 57minutes!

Same again next year eh?

How Important is a Legionella Risk Assessment?

If you find yourself asking this question, then you need to call us right away, or at least visit the HSE site for further info.

In business, risks need to be assessed. A Legionella Risk Assessment (LRA) is the best thing to have in your arsenal if queries are ever raised that question the health and safety measures in your organisation.

However, it is worth noting that the calibre of an assessment is also key, so its worth doing your research into a company before signing up for one.

If you’re unsure of whether you qualify, the ACoP L8 is your Bible, so familiarise yourself with it if you can. This offers key information on Record Keeping, Your role as an employer and how to prevent or control the risk of Legionella.

To avoid explaining everything your LRA should include, check out the HSE Website Legionnaires Section  for the full breakdown and explanation to clear things up.

If you do not have a Legionella Risk Assessment in place, you could be at risk of prosecution if an outbreak should occur. Of course, this is the worst case scenario but better to have an assessment in the first place right?

The bottom line: If you are an employer, or are in control of premises, you must be aware and understand the risks associated with Legionella and must also be seen to take precautions to reduce those risks.

Do your organisation a favour and ensure you are complying with legal requirements.

Get in touch with GES Water to get a comprehensive Legionella Risk Assessment tailored to your business.

All our Risk Assessments are carried out by experienced and competent Risk Assessors, so you can be safe in the knowledge that all bases will be covered and all work completed to the highest standards.

Always Remember:

GET COMPLIANT. ENSURE COMPETENCY. SHOW CONTROL.
